Hello! I am Noreen McKenty, and I live in the western suburbs with my husband, Mike Leavy, and  our four kids, Sam (20 , Max (18), Caroline (16) and Auggie (13).  This is my fourth year at Zizumbo and my sixth with Acero Schools. I am sending my 18 year old off to college this year!

I attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where I received a Bachelors of Arts in English and Education, with a minor in History. I taught high school English for 10 years on the northwest side of the city and then stayed home to raise my kids. I returned to teaching ten years ago. I taught at Cruz, which is an Acero school in Rogers Park, and then I moved here to Zizumbo and I plan to retire here one day. 

I enjoy crafting and still play on an adult softball team with some of my oldest friends. I recently took up the sport of paddle ball and I love it! I play several times a week. Other than that I am busy attending my own kids’ athletic events.

¡Hola! Soy Noreen McKenty y vivo en los suburbios del oeste con mi esposo, Mike Leavy, y nuestros cuatro hijos, Sam (20, Max (18), Caroline (16) y Auggie (13). Este es mi cuarto año en Zizumbo. y mi sexto con Escuelas Acero ¡Voy a enviar a mi hijo de 18 años a la universidad este año!

Asistí a la Universidad de Illinois en Urbana-Champaign, donde recibí una Licenciatura en Artes en Inglés y Educación, con especialización en Historia. Enseñé inglés en la escuela secundaria durante 10 años en el lado noroeste de la ciudad y luego me quedé en casa para criar a mis hijos. Volví a la docencia hace diez años. Enseñé en Cruz, que es una escuela Acero en Rogers Park, y luego me mudé aquí a Zizumbo y planeo jubilarme aquí algún día.

Disfruto hacer manualidades y todavía juego en un equipo de softball para adultos con algunos de mis amigos más antiguos. ¡Recientemente comencé el deporte del pádel y me encanta! Juego varias veces a la semana. Aparte de eso, estoy ocupado asistiendo a los eventos deportivos de mis propios hijos.
